The Trouble with Earl

Arriving in his best duds and brand new Leone vest, Big Earl was not prepared for what he saw that night at the dance. There were two other cowboys making time with his best sweetheart, Ms. Abilene.

Not much for conversatin', Big Earl charged onto the dance floor in an avalanche of boots and denim. When the dust finally settled, no one in Prairie Dog County would dare to do the Macarena or the Hokie Pokie ever again.

So, you think you can dance?

Floyd really wanted to win this year's line dancing championship to impress Ms. Abilene, the Prairie Dog County Princess. One, two...cha cha cha.

You Wanna Lick?

You waited all week for the chance to wrap your tongue around a delectable scoop of creamy ice cream. They have you favorite flavor and you have just enough allowance left over after buying your comics to feast like a king. It doesn't get any better than this!

Gasp!

The things that go bump in the night are not really all that scary. Are they? As long as you don't let your imagination run away with you, everything should be fine. However, be sure not to look behind you in the darkness. You may not like what you can't see.

What's So Good About It?

Sometimes you just don't have the strength to face the day. Especially when your neighbor gives you a hearty, "Good morning!", flips you a wink and then takes off with a bound.

Crystal Skull

In the Fall of last year, I was asked to paint a Crystal Skull concept for a licensing tie in to the new Indiana Jones film. The sketch was created by another artist that I work with. As is often the case with movie licensors, we weren't given much in the way of reference. So we gleaned as much information as we could from available photos and blindly managed to create an interesting image. I painted the skull to look like it was made of greenish crystal. Below is the skull as seen in the movie.

Looking back now, I know that I should have painted the skull with more translucency and facets. The art was slated to be used for a tin container. Before we were able to finalize the concept, we received the approved artwork from Lucasfilm, so there was no need to take this art any further. Still, having grown up watching and pretending to be the adventurous archaeologist, I really loved working on this concept.

By the way, I still haven't found the time to see the movie.

Warm Up Doodle

My good friend Jeremy suggested that I try to start the day with a quick doodle to get the old eyes and ears working. It's really quite refreshing to throw out a quick little image like this one. My thanks to him for the suggestion. I hope you like it!
