The Hulk

A few years ago, before Ang Lee's The Hulk debuted in theaters to dumbounded fans nationwide, I had the pleasure of working on some of the merchandise for the film. I had a really great time dreaming up situations where we could have the Hulk destroying all manner of property. In this design, Hulk SMASH puny Hum-Vee into a small waffle of Detroit armoured steel.

After the design was finalized, we sent our sketch over to the extremely talented folks at the Jim Roger's Studios. They were incredible to work with! Having worked with sculptors overseas who are perported to be cheaper, I found that using Jim's studio was a fanatstic investment of time and value. He and his team were able to solve many of the problems inherent in the initial drawing. Yes, I will admit that there were some "problems" with the concept sketch. Nonetheless, the final product was far superior to anything we ever had made overseas.

Three Gals Work In Progress

Unrequited love is the bane of adolescence. Still, there is a bit of magic when you first lay your eyes on the "one". Here, these Three Gals are spying Mister Right.

I love to experiment with varying my painting techniques. In this color sketch WIP, I am trying to learn the deft simplicity with which Florian Satzinger creates his imaginative work. I am really love his animated style.

This guy could use something tasty for a treat. Chances are, if you don't have something handy, he will help himself to whomever is around!

Gorillataurus

Imagine a wild herd of these Gorillataurus rampaging through the plains on the edges of the ancient forests. This would be a mighty foe that you could not outrun nor escape up a tree.

Tarzan

Conflict resolution seems to be one of Tarzan's strong suits. When in doubt, go for it.

A little Bit of Color

Clearly, little Timmy should have chosen a more suitable gaurd to defend against the monster under the bed. Next time, pick the guy with the Kung Fu grip.

Last Minute

I was out to lunch with a couple of good friends yesterday. While lathering up a pulled pork sandwhich with a cubic ton of Babaloos Famous Secret Sweet Sauce, I was gently reminded that this week's Drawer Geeks deadline was TODAY! In my usual fashion, I announced that I had no plans to do a sketch for the topic of Lord of the Rings, having missed the last dozen or so rounds. When neither friend seemed surprised, I felt compelled to scratch out something just out of spite!

Cleopatra

This is my little bit for the DrawerGeeks' topic of Cleopatra. As seems to be habit, I've waited till the night before to scrawl out my effort. I would love to devlope this concept a bit further. However, I am swamped with activites, duties and errands and I am certain that this will forever remain just a penciled sketch. In fact, I still haven't completed the color comp for the Into the Blue post. Alas, if I had more time...

Into the Hue

I decided to bring the character sketch a little further along to try and tell a story. I have begun laying down my colors and the linework. I'm not really sure where this might go, but I will have some fun getting there. This is usually the phase where I slash around in search of my color pallette and the style in which I will illustrate the sketch. I want to try a slghtly different approach than what I've been doing lately; so I am going to keep things as loose as I can.

In case your wondering, those floating swatches of paint are my colors for the flight suit.
